What is acrylic?

Acrylic is a rigid, glass-like plastic, sometimes called plexiglass or Perspex. It has a smooth, glossy surface and a real sense of quality, but it’s much lighter than glass and far less likely to shatter. That makes it a popular choice for signs that need to look smart and be handled safely.

Clear acrylic gives a modern, floating look, especially when your graphics are applied to it and the wall shows through behind. Coloured and opaque acrylic gives a solid, bold finish.

Acrylic is at its best indoors, where its glossy finish looks its best. It can also be used outdoors in the right spot, such as a sheltered entrance or porch. Let us know where your sign is going and we’ll tell you honestly whether acrylic is the right fit or whether another material would serve you better.

Finishes and options

Acrylic comes in clear, coloured and opaque sheets, in a range of thicknesses. Thinner sheets suit smaller door and wall signs, while thicker sheets give a chunkier, more substantial look. Your design is added using our in-house printed or cut vinyl, so you can go for simple lettering or a full-colour logo. Sizes can be anything from a small door plate to a large reception panel.

Supply only

We prepare your acrylic sign and supply it ready to fit. We don’t install acrylic signs, so mounting it is a job for you or your own fitter. It helps to tell us how you plan to fix it to the wall when you order, so we can talk through what will work best.
